Another update

Currently in Kanchanaburi...

Howdily!
Just a quick message before I head onto a train back to Bangkok from Kanchanaburi! I hope I'll have some time tomorrow night to upload some photos onto the blog and also write about what I've done in the last 3 days.
I went for a bike ride today in the country side of Kanchanaburi and oh!!! I felt like Julie Andrews from The Sound of Music!!! I even started singing "The hills are alive... with the sound of muuuusic... Ah-ah-ah-ah..." while I was gliding past the mountains. And then I realised I didn't know any other words after "with songs they have sung for a thousand years", so I just stuck with whistling.
I'm currently living in Apple's guesthouse - which I HIGHLY recommend, if anyone ever comes to Kanchanaburi. Apple No. 2 is a HILARIOUS, friendly, sweet and talkative girl. And unlike other the other hostel managers I've conversed with, she talks openly about the Bangkok situation (among other things such as royalty gossip - apparently, the 65 year old Prince of Thailand, who is also heir to the throne, is a playboy who is currently with his 35 year-old wife #3). But talking with Apple, I don't know what to think. She tells me that the Bangkok situation is very bad, and that some main streets have been blocked off, and that the military is at every government station. She thinks I might have some trouble getting back to the hostel. But reading the news articles online, Bangkok city still seems somewhat unaffected by the situation.
By the way, guess what? Kanchanaburi is actually a military site!!! Hahaha!!! So I've been seeing military tanks and soldiers in and around Kanchanaburi. According to Apple, they've been a bit more active over the last few days, and have started moving towards Bangkok.
Anyhoo, I'm going to end it here otherwise I have to pay for another hour of internet usage. Try to write again as soon as I get back to Bangkok!
Cheerios!!!
